Upper Bench Winery
Bordeaux-style reds, crisp dry whites
Upper Bench Winery & Creamery is BC's only winery and creamery.
The place.
Located in Penticton, the venture is a dream come true for Shana and Gavin Miller. Gavin is Upper Bench’s head winemaker, crafting award winning, one-of-a-kind Bordeaux-style reds and crisp, dry whites, and Shana has created her own line of Blue, Brie, and washed-rind cheese.
Guests can enjoy the culinary magic of Upper Bench wine and cheese pairings by becoming members of the Corks & Curds Club, which offers quarterly home deliveries of premium wines and cheeses.
During the warmer months Upper Bench offers sit down guided tastings of their Estate wines and hand-crafted cheese on their sunny covered Patio. Visitors can also relax on the sunny Patio and enjoy authentic Neapolitan style pizza or a cheese board created from The Oven at Upper Bench.

Riesling ‘Naramata Bench’This Riesling is beautifully clean, crisp and dry and is as versatile as they come - enjoy it as a patio sipper or pair with seafood, grilled meats or charcuterie. Prominent bouquet with honey suckle, orange blossom, peach and apple . On the palate it has racy acidity with flavours of green apple, lime, blood orange, and a touch of minerality on the finish. The hint of residual sugar is in perfect balance.

Chardonnay ‘Naramata Bench’If you have not enjoyed Chardonnay in the past, we encourage you to try this one; it will change your mind! Our Chardonnay is lees-aged and partially oaked, 50% is in French oak barrels for 3 months and 50% is in stainless steel tanks. With just 30% new barrels, the limited exposure to oak provides balance and structure without detracting from the fruit and terroir.

Pinot Noir ‘Naramata Bench’Hand-tended, meticulously made, this is not a wimpy Pinot. 100% Naramata Bench fruit, cropped at a mere 2.25 tons per acre, our Pinot Noir is traditionally fermented and cellared in older, neutral French Oak for 15 months. The result is a big, bold wine with beautiful colour, good structure and lots of earthy tones: aromas of strawberry, cherry, rose petal and anise, and flavours of red currant, cherry, cranberry and clove.

Merlot ‘Naramata Bench’Smooth and easy drinking, but full of flavour, the ‘Limited Release’ Naramata Bench Merlot is one of Upper Bench’s most popular reds. Deep garnet in colour, with bold aromas of black cherry, cacao, liquorice and graphite. Flavours of pomegranate, cherry, cloves and sage are supported by a lively acidity. Aging 18 months in French oak (30% new) leads to a complex wine with a savoury finish, structure and finesse.
